RWC-340B Sends Letter to Gilead

On April 21, 2025, RWC-340B delivered a letter to Gilead Sciences, admonishing the pharmaceutical manufacturer for its recent policy changes requiring use of mail order and retracting its provision of free medications under its patient assistance program. These policy changes make it harder for individuals living with, or at risk for developing, HIV/AIDS to receive lifesaving medications. Shannon Burger, RWC-340B president and CEO of Cempa Community Care remarked, “Gilead’s policy decisions are appalling evidence that Gilead is more concerned about profits than patients.” In the letter, RWC-340B demanded Gilead reconsider these choices given their negative impact on patients and in ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the United States.
