The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) will hold a third hearing on the 340B program on June 19, 2018 at 10 a.m, Eastern time. The hearing is entitled “Effective Administration of the 340B Drug Pricing Program.” Captain Krista Pedley, Director of the Office of Pharmacy Affairs, will testify. Capt. Pedley previously testified in July 2017 before the House Energy and Commerce Committee on HRSA’s oversight of the 340B program. During her testimony, Capt. Pedley asserted that specific legislative authority to conduct rulemaking for all provisions in the 340B statute would help facilitate HRSA’s oversight of the program.
The Senate HELP Committee began holding hearings on the 340B program for the first time this year. It held its first hearing in March, at which time Committee members and witnesses discussed the purpose of the program. During the second hearing in May, representatives from the HHS Office of the Inspector General and the Government Accountability Office testified on oversight reports related to the program.
